Confiar Again #2 (Mona Kasten)

EN "Trust Again" is the sequel of the book "Begin Again" by the German author, Mona Kasten. Although the central characters of the first book, Allie and Kaden, still appear frequently in this story, the main characters of this book are their best friends, Dawn and Spencer.

The premise of this book introduces us to the development of a love story. Dawn and Spencer were friends. Their attitude towards others were very similar: always smiling and with an answer on the tip of their tongue. However, it was difficult for them to hide the physical attraction they feel for each other. Spencer does not even try to hide his interest; however, Dawn avoids all kinds of intimacies as much as possible because her past does not allow her to move on. Still, the closer they get and know each other's lives, the harder it is to hide the feelings and how close they need to be with each other.

"Maybe it's possible to fix a broken heart…”

The writer is able to get us completely hooked on the book. It's one of my favorite books this year. I was completely in love with the unfolding story of Dawn and Spencer, and I felt that their love story was so true and so plausible that I hardly can point out any flaws in it. Especially in the creation of Spencer's character. We do not see the typical bad boy that we often see in the current novels. He always tries to be friendly, kind and charming, with a positive attitude, even with all his negative baggage behind him. And despite the little cliché of them trying to hide their deepest feelings, we still want to understand and know their whole life. His interaction with Dawn had already intrigued me since the first book of the saga. His interest in her was very noticeable, but his intentions could not be fully understood. In this book they won my heart. The two characters have powerful individual stories, with every reason to distrust and detach themselves from the world. And even trying to avoid feelings and deeper involvements, there are things impossible to control.

I've identified a lot with Dawn. With her interests, with her thoughts and also with her fears. She loves writing and has an unreal idea of novels, she hates oral presentations, and she has beautiful red hair. The fact that she writes, doesn't like to speak in public, and doesn't know how to deal with malicious criticism made me relive my past. Our fears are often paralyzing, and we all need some catalysts to help us face them. Dawn had hers, and I had mine, too.

I highly recommend this book. I liked this one a lot more than the first one, and I admit I liked the first one a lot too. The author's writing is beautifully good. It is a writing that holds us, grabs us and it also entertains us. This book could be a light novel, but there are themes addressed in it that cannot be treated lightly. I am very eager to read the sequel of this saga.
