EN Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban” is the third book in the magic saga and was originally published in July 1999. This book is a great milestone in Harry's history, as it is the only one in which he does not face the villain Voldemort but has ahead of him a year in which the friendships and loyalty of many characters are put to the test. These facts greatly constrained the development of the rest of the plot and created a very important symbology around the word family.

In this school year, Harry Potter begins his journey with a near expulsion from Hogwarts and the knowledge of the escape of Sirius Black from Azkaban, considered a follower of Voldemort, imprisoned for several years in the scariest prison in the world of magic and watched by Dementors, who would become very important figures in this journey of Harry. In addition to Sirius Black, we also have the appearance of two more relevant characters, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. Lupin is hired by Dumbledore to teach Defense Against Dark Arts, and we realize that he will play a key role in the development of Harry and his magic. In fact, it is professor Lupin who provides Harry with tools to confront the one who reveals himself to be his greatest fear, the Dementors, inciting him to cast a rather powerful spell, “expecto patronum", something that would be unthinkable for a third-year student and still with little knowledge of magic.

In addition, we also have an introduction to the story of Lupin and his condition, in which we realize that all of Dumbledore's help to keep him in school was very relevant to the whole plot. The way we found out that Lupin, Sirius, and Harry's father James were best friends and together with Pettigrew they all turned into "animagus" because of him, to accompany and help him in all the processes of transformation, proved to be a great gesture of friendship. Despite Pettigrew's betrayal, I can't help but cherish that moment. After this story we understand why The Marauder's Map was created. It was a pity that the movie was not more developed.

We also have a development of Harry's relationship with Hermione and Ron, who are more evolved but continue with their pranks that end up making the story less heavy, something that becomes impossible in the following books. The fact that Hermione's cat stalked Scabbers, Ron's rat, is perfectly normal in animals, however, it is understood that behind it there was a deeper intention for all the stalking that Ron so much complained about.

This is one of my favorite books, especially since there is a lot of action and there is always something important happening that makes us stay focused on the story to find out more. I was sad when I saw that in the film adaptation, they cut many scenes that I consider relevant to the main plot. However, and despite all these" constructive criticisms " I loved the book. Like all the previous ones. The reading is very fluid, the story is fascinatingly well written, the plot well explained and developed, and I am passionate about this world of magic.
