Confessions (Aurea)

PT “Confessions” foi um álbum criado a partir da própria palavra, ou seja, confissões. A artista Aurea construiu todo um álbum em torno de segredos que lhe foram sendo contados ao longo dos anos, criando assim uma narrativa interessante em torno de memórias e momentos, "Foi numa viagem de carro a caminho do Algarve que pensei no que tinha para partilhar agora com as pessoas. Nós acumulamos tantos segredos e informação, porque não revelá-los em canções?".

Para quem conhecer os projetos anteriores da cantora, ao ouvir este álbum será perceptível a mudança de sonoridade, apesar de ter ainda o estilo soul, característico da própria, será possível ouvir alguns sons programados, algumas batidas e, inclusivé, uma forma distinta de cantar, de forma a explorar e incorporar, de certa forma, o que foi obtendo e sentido com cada confissão.

O primeiro single do álbum é a faixa “Done with You”, composta pelo produtor e compositor do álbum, Rui Ribeiro, e pela cantora Carolina Deslandes. Apesar da faixa não se ter sido composta especificamente para o álbum, a cantora Aurea identificou-se com ela e achou que esta acabaria por ser a sua confissão, "Done with You é um segredo meu, posso dizê-lo, (...) ir mais a fundo é sempre mais intenso e naturalmente que tenho sentido esse amadurecimento destes últimos anos, são temas fortes, mas muito genuínos e reais".

Do álbum posso destacar a faixa introdutória, “Thrill Seeker”, que acaba por ser o auge desta nova sonoridade experimental da cantora, e ainda a faixa “Like A Sheet Of Coated Paper”, em que sentimos que a cantora nos está a contar um segredo de forma detalhada e “aveludada”, tendo em conta a forma como canta esta faixa.

Muitas das vezes precisamos de sair da zona de conforto e ver aquilo de que somos efetivamente capazes, e foi o que a própria cantora tentou fazer com este projeto, desafiou-se e provou que é capaz de se adaptar a novos desafios e sonoridades e, mesmo assim construir um projeto coeso e coerente.

EN "Confessions" was an album created from the word itself, that is, confessions. The artist Aurea has built an entire album around secrets that have been told to her over the years, thus creating an interesting narrative around memories and moments, "It was on a car trip on the way to Algarve that I thought about what I had to share with people now. We accumulate so many secrets and information, why not reveal them in songs?".

For those who know the previous projects of the singer, when listening to this album will be noticeable the change of sonority, although it still has the soul style, a characteristic of her own, it will be possible to hear some programmed sounds, some beats and, also, a distinct way of singing, in order to explore and incorporate, in a certain way, what it was getting and feeling with each confession.

The first single from the album is the track “Done with you”, composed by the producer and composer of the album, Rui Ribeiro, and the singer Carolina Deslandes. Although the track was not composed specifically for the album, the singer Aurea identified with it and thought it would end up being her confession, "Done with you is a secret of mine, I can tell you, (...) going deeper is always more intense and, naturally, I have felt this maturation of these last years, they are strong themes, but very genuine and real".

From the album I can highlight the introductory track, “Thrill Seeker", which turns out to be the height of this new experimental sonority of the singer, and also the track "Like a Sheet of Coated Paper", in which we feel that the singer is telling us a secret in a detail and velvety way, taking into account the way she sings this track.

Many times, we need to get out of our comfort zone and see what we are actually capable of, and that's what the singer herself tried to do with this project, challenged herself and proved that she is able to adapt to new challenges and sounds and even then, build a cohesive and coherent project.
