Fire Within (Birdy)

PT É quase certo que quando ouvimos falar da Birdy nos lembramos da incrível cover da música do artista Bon Iver, “Skinny Love”. Foi através desta faixa que a cantora foi catapultada para a fama, deixando visível que existiria um futuro promissor à sua espera, rasgando inúmeros elogios por parte da indústria discográfica por todo o mundo.

“Fire Within” é uma espécie de caixinha de música, uma caixa mágica que nos arrebate através da voz da artista, que apesar de suave, consegue ser potente, despertando inúmeras emoções nos ouvintes. Todas as faixas do álbum conseguem transmitir uma intelectualidade dispar, tendo em conta que a artista tinha apenas 17 anos quando lançou o projeto, parecendo que teria sido executado por alguém mais velho, sábio e com uma carreira artística já bastante estável.

Como primeiro single temos a faixa “Wings”, escrita em colaboração com o cantor Ryan Tedder, que tinha escrito previamente vários sucessos como “Halo” de Beyoncé, “Bleeding Love” de Leona Lewis, e muitos outros, ou seja, existia uma fórmula para o sucesso! A faixa exibe a evolução vocal da cantora desde o seu primeiro álbum, mostrando o quão arrasadora consegue ser a sua voz e quão profunda consegue ser através das suas composições, acerca de um amor que a deixou de rastos e confusa, mas que jamais seria esquecível.

Outro destaque, ainda que não tenha sido um single, vai para a faixa “Strange Birds”, que é certamente a minha faixa favorita do projeto, composta em conjunto com a cantora Sia, onde a artista tem a oportunidade de exibir o seu incrível alcance vocal, enquanto canta as ambíguas letras “You’ve always loved the strange birds / Now I want to fly into your world / I want to be heard.”

Se pensarmos que a artista escreveu a maior parte das faixas do álbum, e tendo em conta a sua idade, entendemos que existe de facto um talento inegável para a escrita e composição. Graças ao seu incrível instrumento, que é a sua voz, sabemos que não faltarão sucessos futuros, ainda que este não seja um álbum totalmente perfeito, mas nunca nenhum o é de facto. Devemos ter ainda em conta que este foi o segundo projeto da artista, estando efetivamente bem concebido tendo em pensamento a sua tenra idade. O talento e magia estão lá, e é certo que vingaram. E porquê? Ouçam os dois últimos projetos da cantora, “Beautiful Lies” de 2016 e, o mais recente, “Piano Sketches”, lançado como um EP no início de Novembro. O próximo álbum da cantora, "Young Heart", será lançado a 30 de Abril, e o primeiro single é a faixa "Surrender".

EN It's almost certain that when we hear about Birdy, we remember the incredible cover of the song "Skinny Love". It was because of this track that the singer was thrown into fame, making it visible that she had a promising future waiting for her, receiving countless compliments from the record industry around the world.

"Fire Within" is like a music box, or a magic box that takes us through the voice of the artist, which although soft, manages to be powerful and can awaken countless emotions in the listeners. All the tracks of the album manage to convey an intellectuality unequal, considering that the artist was only seventeen years old when she released the project, looking like it had been executed by someone much older, wiser and with an artist career quite stable.

The first single is called "Wings", written in collaboration with the singer Ryan Tedder, who had previously written several hits such as "Halo" by Beyoncé, "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis, and many others successful songs, which means, there was a formula for success! The track shows the singer's vocal evolution since her first album, showing how soul-destroying her voice can be and how deep she can be through her music compositions, about a love that left her lost and confused, but that would never be forgotten.

Another highlight, even if it was not a single, goes to the track “Strange Birds”, which is certainly my favorite track of the project, composed together with the singer Sia, where the artist has the opportunity to display her incredible vocal range, while singing the ambiguous lyrics “You've always loved the strange birds / Now I want to fly into your world / I want to be heard.”

If we think about the fact that the artist wrote most of the tracks on the album, and given her age, we understand that there is indeed an undeniable talent for writing and music composition. Thanks to her incredible instrument, which is her voice, we know that there will be plenty of future hits, even if this is not a totally perfect album, which, in fact, none really is indeed. We must also bear in mind that this was the second project of the artist, being efficiently well conceived considering her young age. The talent and the magic are there, and it is certain that they have succeeded. And why? Listen to the singer's last two projects, 2016's "Beautiful Lies" and, most recently, "Piano Sketches", released as an EP in early November, from last year. The next record from the singer, "Young Heart", will be released on April 30th, and the first single is the song "Surrender".
