I Feel Cream (Peaches)

PT Tal como o livro “The Freedom Writers Diary”, aqui vamos falar de um álbum de uma antiga professora, de seu nome Merrill Nisker. Merril foi professora de teatro e música na Associated Hebrew Schools of Toronto, tendo a própria frequentado uma escola judia durante a sua fase estudantil. Mas Merril ficou um pouco mais arrojada, tanto em termos mentais como físicos, dando vida à artista Peaches.

Possivelmente conhecerão a cantora através de músicas como “Fuck The Pain Away” ou “Operate”, fazendo esta última parte da banda sonora do filme “Mean Girls”, protagonizado por Lindsay Lohan, e utilizada ainda como sample na faixa “Look What You Made Me Do” de Taylor Swift.

Mas desta vez vimos falar do álbum “I Feel Cream”, lançado em 2009. O álbum tem um estilo eletrónico, com um ligeiro toque de house à mistura, que são até estilos que aprecio, mas que não acho que tenham sido bem conseguidos na sua totalidade neste projeto. Pode-se dizer que é um bom álbum para tocar numa noite de total descompressão e em que a nossa cabeça quer apenas divagar e “curtir o som”, porque em termos de “substância” o álbum não tem muito para oferecer.

Porém, posso realçar que quando apresentado ao vivo, tem mais “poder”, sendo que tive a oportunidade de o ouvir no Festival MEO Marés Vivas, no ano 2010. A cantora tem uma excelente presença em palco e sabe cativar o seu público, proporcionando alguns momentos hilariantes como aquele em que disse “Jesus walks on water, Peaches walks on you” antes de apresentar a música “Show Stopper”.

Para quem gostar de música do género eletrónico este álbum não irá desapontar, apesar de não apresentar nada marcante e que nos faça voltar a ouvir vezes sem conta, mas possui faixas interessantes como a já referida “Show Stopper”, “Talk to Me” e “More”, que acabam por ser as faixas favoritas do projeto.

But this time we're going to talk about the album "I Feel Cream", released in 2009. The album has an electronic style, with a slight touch of house added to the mix, which are styles that I appreciate, but that I do not think have been well achieved in their entirety in this project. I believe it to be a good album to play on a night of total decompression and in which our head just wants to ramble and enjoy the sound, because in terms of "substance" the album does not have much to offer.

However, I can highlight that when performed live, it has more power, and I had the opportunity to hear it at the Festival Meo Marés Vivas, in 2010. The singer has an excellent stage presence and knows how to captivate her audience, providing some hilarious moments such as the one in which she said, “Jesus walks on water, Peaches walks on you” before presenting the song “Show Stopper”.

For those who enjoy electronic music, this album will not disappoint, although it does not present anything remarkable that makes us want to listen again and again, but it has some interesting tracks such as the aforementioned "Show Stopper”, “Talk to Me” and "More", which end up being the favorite tracks of the project.
