Love Simon (Soundtrack)

PT Confesso que não sou uma pessoa de gostar de bandas sonoras, por norma aprecio uma ou outra música, mas aqui não foi o caso. Quando terminei de ver o filme “Love Simon” tive de ir instantaneamente pesquisar a banda sonora, uma vez que o filme tinha momentos musicais fantásticos e que captaram a minha atenção.

O álbum retrata a sensação do que é ser jovem e apaixonado mas, ao mesmo tempo, relata todos os problemas adjacentes a como é viver num mundo cheio de “ses” e de conflitos pessoais.

Já conhecia o trabalho do produtor e músico Jack Antonoff, com artistas como Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen ou Lorde, mas o trabalho do artista com a sua banda, Bleachers, para a soundtrack foi fantástico. No álbum existem 5 faixas da autoria da banda e todas elas nos remetem para um ambiente mágico, de sonho, dando a sensação de que somos capazes de fazer tudo! Porém, Jack não nos proporcionou com músicas apenas da sua banda, mas produziu e escreveu ainda faixas para outros artistas como Troye Sivan e MØ.

Além dos momentos de euforia, surgem músicas mais calmas como é o caso de “Sink In” de Amy Shark e “Love Lies” da Khalid e Normani. Elas acabam por fazer o balanço com todas as mudanças de humor de Simon, à medida que vai sofrendo várias reviravoltas com o avançar do filme. Surgem ainda alguns clássicos que nos trazem de volta o ânimo, como é o caso do inegável sucesso “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” de Whitney Houston e ainda “Someday at Christmas” da banda Jackson 5. Estas músicas acabam por trazer o brilho e euforia dos anos passados e que conjugam tão bem com a história do filme.

São todos estes detalhes que acabam por dar vida ao filme “Love Simon”. As músicas acabam por explorar as mentes dos adolescentes que desejam, desesperadamente, compreender o que fazer em determinadas situações e, no entanto, encontram-se apenas envoltos de ambiguidades.

O trabalho de Jack Antonoff nesta banda sonora é brilhante, e ele foi capaz de transpor a música e ajustá-la ao desenvolvimento dos protagonistas ao longo do filme, tanto na jovialidade da sua música quanto nas mensagens por trás dela.

EN I must admit that I am not a person who enjoys soundtracks very much and typically I appreciate one or other music, but here it was not the case. When I finished watching the movie "Love Simon" I had to go instantly to research the soundtrack, since the movie had fantastic musical moments that caught my attention.

The album portrays the feeling of what it is to be young and passionate but, at the same time, reports all the problems attached to what it is like to live in a world full of doubts, questions, and personal conflicts.

I already knew the work of the producer and musician Jack Antonoff, with artists such as Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen, or Lorde, but the work of the artist with his band, Bleachers, for the soundtrack was fantastic. In the album there are 5 tracks by the band and all of them send us to a magical, dreamlike environment, giving the feeling that we can do anything! However, Jack did not provide us with songs only from his band, but also produced and wrote tracks for other artists such as Troye Sivan and MØ.

In addition to the moments of euphoria, calmer songs emerge as is the case of “Sink In” by Amy Shark and “Love Lies” by Khalid and Normani. They end up taking stock of all of Simon's mood swings, as he goes through several twists and turns as the movie progresses. There are also some classics that lift us up the spirit, as is the case of the undeniable success “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston and “Someday at Christmas” by Jackson 5. These songs end up bringing the brightness and happiness of past years and combine so well with the story of the movie.

It is all these details that eventually give life to the movie “Love Simon”. The songs end up exploring the minds of teenagers who desperately want to understand what to do in certain situations and yet find themselves only shrouded in ambiguities.

Jack Antonoff's work on this soundtrack is brilliant, and he was able to transpose the music and adjust it to the development of the protagonists throughout the movie, both in the joviality of his music and in the messages behind it.
